Vertikal Days 2026: what the latest lifting technology means for lift planning

The post-show review from Vertikal Days highlights new telescopic crawler, pick-and-carry, tracked carrier and telehandler equipment alongside remote-control and safety technology with direct implications for machine-specific lift planning.

From exhibition preview to post-show technology review

Vertikal Days 2026 closed on 10 September after two days at Newark Showground. The post-show review highlights a broad range of new lifting and access equipment, including the Sany SCE600TB telescopic crawler crane, Sany SCD150 carry-deck crane, GGR MC100 pick-and-carry crane, GGR 40-tonne tracked carrier and XCMG XT2506E telehandler.

The show also highlighted remote-controlled equipment, mats and pads, electric and hybrid machines and increasingly specialised compact lifting solutions.

What this means for lift planning

The important trend for Appointed Persons is the increasing diversity of lifting equipment. A generic crane-based approach is not enough when projects are using telescopic crawlers, pick-and-carry cranes, tracked carriers, telehandlers and specialist material-handling machines with very different stability, travel and load-chart characteristics.

  • Use the manufacturer load chart for the exact machine and configuration.
  • Treat pick-and-carry as a distinct operating condition with appropriate utilisation controls.
  • Consider track, tyre, outrigger and mat ground-loading requirements separately.
  • Record boom, jib and attachment configuration accurately.
  • Include remote-control and operator-position considerations where applicable.
  • Maintain machine-specific audit trails rather than relying on generic lifting assumptions.

LiftPlanProUK development focus

These developments reinforce LiftPlanProUK's approach of separating planning workflows by plant type and configuration, with machine-specific load charts, utilisation calculations, rigging arrangements and ground-bearing checks forming part of the digital plan.

LiftPlanProUK provides planning and management support. Site-specific information must be checked and every lifting operation approved by a competent person.
